Kortney Story RM, IBCLC

My journey into midwifery began with the birth of my own children, where I first came to understand the profound power of childbirth and parenthood. That experience inspired a more than 10-year career as a full-spectrum birth doula and childbirth educator, during which I supported hundreds of families through their pregnancies and birth journeys. I then returned to school to complete my Bachelor of Midwifery at the University of British Columbia, where I was honoured to be named a Wesbrook Scholar.

I am deeply passionate about promoting equitable, inclusive access to midwifery care and ensuring that all families receive respectful, compassionate support through pregnancy and the postpartum period. I have had the privilege of working with organizations such as the Atira Women’s Society, Maxxine Wright Shelter, and the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres, providing culturally safe and family-centred care. These experiences have shaped my inclusive approach to care and my commitment to supporting families in a way that feels right for them. These experiences also inspired me to pursue certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), allowing me to offer additional, specialized feeding support during the postpartum period.

Outside of work, you’ll most often find me at home with my partner and our lively household (which includes our three children, three cats, and a dog), volunteering at the kids’ dance studio or baseball diamond, or spending time at the local arena as a figure skating judge.
