I have been practicing midwifery since 1996. I am a graduate of the Seattle Midwifery School and a mother of two boys. For twelve years I practiced independently as a Licensed Midwife in the state of Washington specializing in out-of-hospital birth either at home or in a free-standing birth centre.
In 2008 I moved to British Columbia and began practicing with Semiahmoo. I bring to my practice my own personal experience of birth and midwifery and the experience
gained from many years of midwifery practice.
Over the years I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of women and their families from many walks of life and in varied environments. It is these experiences that have shaped my philosophy of birth and the midwifery care I offer my clients today.
My goal is to provide midwifery care that includes mutual respect, good medical skills, clinical judgment, patience and understanding, while honoring the uniqueness of each woman and her family. I support each woman as she experiences her own unique changes that accompany pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum period.
I strive to preserve the simplicity and joy of birth in the current complex medical environment. Women excel at giving birth to their babies when they are given the opportunity to believe in the innate brilliance of their bodies and their babies. Each birth instills in me a sense of awe and joy at the strength of women and the welcoming of new life.
